Killingdal Fjellhotell lies in a remote setting in the mountains of Sor Trondelag. It is surrounded by breathtaking views and inspired by the solid roots, history and culture of the mining heritage. The allure of Killingdal is a combination of cool mountain air, its abundance of luxuriant vegetation, and its peace and tranquility. The fresh air is cool and invigorating and when dusk falls, the mist that follows takes you back to a simple, gentle place. The hotel is situated at the end of a private road, 6 km’s off the motorway R 30 between Roros and Trondheim. (You leave the motorway 32 km north of Roros / 125 km south of Trondheim ).
Reservations should be made prior to arrival and we accept groups of all sizes.

Overnight stay in historical surroundings The essence of Killingdal Mountain Hotel is that it fits in with its natural surroundings, yet remains comfortable – you will eat and sleep well. The hotel has 18 stylish and comfortable guestrooms that sleep up to 43 guests plus a cozy apartment that has 4 bedrooms and 9 beds. By examining Norway’s culture, people and landscapes from a historical perspective, a sense of place is constructed. We wanted to preserve this sense of place by restoring some of the natural buildings constructed in the 1950’s for the miners of Killingdal mine. Fortunately we were able to restore some of the heritage and authenticity, thus rousing the appeal of Norway through these unique conditions. |

Find peace and tranquility with nature Rolling hills and mountains form the backdrop of the hotel, and charm is all around. Even the most rational observer could be awed by the majesty of these landscapes, and the view from the hotel provides a sublime vision. Here you can indulge in trekking and fishing in the summer and stop for a refreshing drink from the mountain stream in nearby rivers and lakes. We are happy to provide you with a guided tour explaining the nature, culture and history that surround the hotel, if you like. The seasons move forward in fits and starts, and although all living things crave spring’s rejuvenating warmth and light, winter starts in December and is not ready to let go until May. You can literally leave the hotel on skis and head into the forest and mountains with miles of ski terrain around. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself drawn by the picturesque effects of light and shade you can explore in the high Arctic light and the interaction of ice, mountains and lakes.

Lavvotunet ”Sami-tepee” Lavvotunet ”Sami tepee’s” were used as shelter by the mountain nomads called ”Sami’s”. We have built our very own ”lavo’s” right next to the hotel in an attempt to capture some of the culture and create a very unique Sami experience of your own. Albeit a solid structure that is insulated for your comfort, we believe this opportunity will take you back, without straying too far from civilization. Lavo’s vary in size with the biggest accommodating up to 48 guests for food and drinks. |

Your hosts Both hotel and mine are fully owned and run by Bård and Anne Guri Ulvin since take over on 1 January 2006. For several months it turned into a rennovation project whereby we replaced all furnishings, built the lavo area, prepared the relaxation cottage and established activities with utmost precision and care to maintain as much of the original architecture and culture as possible. The Ulvin’s stem from a background of directorship, team building and team coaching. We aim to please. Come visit us if you wish to be awed by the sublime power of nature, enjoy the best cuisine, take part in various fun and unique activities or simply relax. You will want to relive the experience every year! (or time and time again...) |
